
Mooring Guazhou is a famous lyric Chinese poetry. Its author is Wang Anshi (王安石) in Song Dynasty. Wang Anshi (1021 – 1086) is famous politician, thinker, writer and poet in Northern Song Dynasty.
This poem expresses the emotion that poet misses hometown. The first two sentences narrates poet was on the way to his post, but he is unwilling. He had already been tired of the life of the officialdom, because the officialdom was corruption and dark at that time. He wanted to come back to hometown, but he can’t. This poem expresses emotion through scenery. The style is very fresh.
The following is the English translation:
Mooring Guazhou
Jingkou and Guazhou are kept apart by the Yangtze River,
Zhougshan will be soon in sight after a few mountains.
The breeze of spring has greened the southern shore of the water again,
When will the bright moon accompany me back to my hometown?
